Good Morning Korea!

Sitting around in Seoul Incheon airport in the transfer lounge where the internet is free! I landed at 5am here and won't be taking off again until 11:15. This is such an impressive airport though, everything is very clean and sleek. I wandered up and down the international terminal already, noting items for sale in the 40 or so duty free shops.

The flight was great! We had a lot of turbulence on the way to LAX, but had a decent enough landing. Also, even though the flight was full, the middle seat in my row stayed empty, so the girl in the window seat and I were able to lounge a bit better. A good thing because the space under the seat in front of me was about a fraction of the size of all the others and my backpack is a beast. Paid $2 for a headset to watch Million Dollar Baby, which had my crying conspicuoulsy by the end.

I thought for sure my experience would deteriorate at LAX for some unknown reason, but it weren't bad. I had to check into Asiana airlines, which is based in Korea, so I was a little afraid I wouldn't be able to understand what was going on. There was an older woman in line with me who was, like, WITH me. She kept trying to walk forward when the only place to go was into my back. It was a little awkward because I wasn't sure what she wanted because she was with her family. When I swished my backpack around, she got hit by it, and I was kind of hoping she'd take the hint (since I wasn't invading her space, I was simply uitilizing my own) but she only sorta... stared... at me. Then I think she followed me up to the ticketing counter... the dude thought I was part of her group at first I think.

That wasn't a bad situation or anything, but I was as amused by it as I was confused.

The Asiana flight was good. I ended up next to people who seemed to be about my age, which kind of made me feel more comfortable. Also towards that end were the pillows and blankets, which are by far the best I've ever experienced. I passed out briefly and awoke to dinner being served. I was unaware that we would get dinner, but was pleased. The choice was Steak or be bim bop. I took the bbb, and it was awesome. Not only that, but it came with kimchi, sushi (cucumber roll, roll of... pickles?, and shrimp sushi), daikon pickles, pollock soup (on which I passed), and melon (which was surprisingly good for 30,000 ft). Real utensils, and some of the bowls were actual stoneware. Or... at least not plastic. Then they came by with drinks, wine, coffee, and tea. I didn't know what to do, so I just ate everything, deciding that I'd deal with the consequences later.

The movie was Million Dollar Baby again, so I went to sleep... with the knowledge that Asiana headsets are free for the ride and single prong as opposed to Delta's double prong... but whatever. I had a better view on Delta anyway...

The plane went dark and everyone went dormant. I don't know how long I slept, but kept waking up now and then, once feeling like one of my front teeth had moved forward in my gums... I got up and brushed my teeth, washed my face, etc... unwittingly splashed water all over the lavatory. Oops. Then accidentally walked out with a random toothbrush that was just sitting there. Perhaps it was complimentary? Who knows, but I put it back since I wasn't sure where it had been.

Then... breakfast! Pancakes! With a funky sausage that I couldn't bring myself to try and half a warmed peach. These were decent, but there was also a croissant comparable to Ithaca Bakery's, strawberry Yoplait, and more fruit. Again, in my confusion, I ate it all.

So right now I'm not really hungry... but I'm bored enough that the only thing keeping me from hitting a noodle shop or the KFC is the fact that I don't want to exchange any of my money in won just because I don't know what I'd do with it.

Though I had contemplated taking a shower though... the picture of the shower looks so nice and it's only 8 USD. A shower sounds really good. But I would just feel weird taking advantage of that right now (even though it's really what I need since I have the rest of the day ahead... even now I'm tempted). Do they provide soap, I wonder.

Anyways, the 13 hr flight passed very comfortably... I'm the type that likes international flights though, and the landing was PERFECT. My ears, and consequently the rest of me, are very pleased.

I took a picture of the 747 for those I know who would appreciate it, and checked in as a transfer.

And now I'm here. Listening to K-pop coming from some tv nearby.
